how close is to close

I am just about to order the parts to build my 2006 6.0. I already got the heads (stock ls3 heads) I am going to replace everything minus the crank pistons rods and block. I was going to check my piston to valve clearance when I put it together, what I need to know is how close is to close?

.080, a lot of variables though. You must be milling the heads & a huge cam to be worried. Check this thread out:

Re: how close is to close

I was just going to take enough off the heads (if any) to get the warp out and the came is only .563/.542 lift. I have no idea how much clearance will be there I was just curious how close I could get safely.
