91 r3500 swap

About to convert a r3500 to 1/2 to running gear.
What will or wont interchange. Going to ream the 1/2 ton spindles to the bigger ball joint.
Which outer tie rod do i use? And are the brake hose the same diameter on the inboard side of the frame?
And will the 3500 m/c work with 1/2 ton calipers?
Its a daily driver im trying to collect as many parts as i can.

Thanks.

Re: 91 r3500 swap

Brake hoses are the same.

1 ton TRE's are larger diameter than 1/2 ton. That will require reaming or you could convert all the steering components to the half ton stuff. The steering boxes are the same.

1 ton MC has a larger bore. It would work but will most likely make the brakes feel spongy. You can bolt a 1/2 ton MC on to the one ton hydro-boost.

half ton rear axles have a different spring perch spacing than the ton trucks, so plan on moving them also.

I am guessing you want to do this swap to go 5 lug?

Re: 91 r3500 swap

My bro n laws crew cab. And yeah 5 lug swap and 3.08 gear. I was hoping to use 1/2 ton outer tie rods and 1 t inners.

If the spring pads matter the 3500 is a single rear wheel.
The plan is a 4/6 drop. And 18's and he wants to leave it long bed.

Wonder what a 4.10 14 bolt is worth??
