Trans linkage

Do I need a special linkage to connect the column shift to the 4L60e? The one on my truck is just a rod with a bolt and about 3" short.

Re: Trans linkage

I'm not sure about your specific application but there is one made by Kugel Komponents that can be set up to the length you need. Not too expensive.
here is a link but there are many places that sell it. http://www.kugelkomponents.com/zenca...=index&cPath=2

Re: Trans linkage

Ive never had to, But you got to have all the pieces to the linkage.

Shifter rod...Rod C
Bell-crank...Lever asm. B
Trans lever A

The Bell-crank fits into a bracket on the frame with a Nylon bushing & spring (keeps it from rattling).

Lokar stuff is JUNK dont buy that overpriced aluminum crap.

Re: Trans linkage

I must have misplaced some parts. I just have the rod and the bolt that tightens to that horizontal plate.

Re: Trans linkage

Lokar claims that their kit will work - I had a lot of luck with them in the past. They also make a pretty nifty cable shift bracket and assembly that works with the column. I was considering going that route - but I plan use my B&M ratchet as is for the time being.

Mine worked fine except it was very close to the exhaust the way I ran it and I could not always get it into low. I didnt really need to so I usually just kept it in drive or OD.
Since I had some binding I did look at the lokar unit and it seemed very nice. In the end I swapped out for a T56.

Re: Trans linkage

I went with a Lokar trans mount on my 200-4r because I had plenty of room. Wound up having to bend the bracket to make it fit and then could only use it when the exhaust was cool. Not a fan.

Just put a new 4L85e in....and I got a Hughes "standard tube type" locking dipstick for it. 'nuff said.

Your column shift parts work in pre-war hot rods, NOT in big Chevy trucks.....The column is too far away from the transmission & truck frames flex too much to use your product.

Re: Trans linkage

Thanks for all the replies, I got the one from Kugel since they were so close to my place and seemed like it could work.

Re: Trans linkage

Has anyone stopped & looked at the Direct Link of a aftermarket column shifter kit???? It does not allow for engine/tramission movement, Frame flex, & Cab mount movement, The factory linkage is engineered to account for this.
