color combo's for interiors

lets see some pics of the color combination's on interiors out there,

since the previous owner painted this one cream n orange i might just stick with it,

thought about having the seat done up in white tuck n roll with orange piping, and some of those old skool clear plastic seat covers

just curious what direction did you guys go, just looking for ideas,

also on carpeting,

bare floor with a rubber mat? or full on carpet? i was thinking some dynomat and a rubber mat and call it good.

Re: color combo's for interiors

i'm a sucker for original interior paint combos. here's mine, it's a 66 with the subdued/satin dash and the white trim accents on the doors. While there are LOTS of custom ways to go (and they are fun to builk and they look great), for some reason, I like the stock look with subtle custom tricks no matter how custom or stock the outside is.

As for carpet - I'm torn (no pun intended) - I have and like the rubber mat, but am considering a matching saddle/gold or something carpet. I'm thinkin you can't go wrong. One comment - black seems to be the common denominator for carpet, but my pers opinion is that a coordinated color seems to make the interior more complete. (if the interior or truck is black, of course black works fine...) First order o biz for me is to get the floor shifter in and then go from there.

How bout some pics of your interior? Sounds like a cool color combo already.

I've had several folks ask about the custom comfort seat in my truck. I'm VERY lucky, the po took very good care of it (actually used a blanket to cover it most of the time) and it's in good shape. I haven't been able to find ANYone that makes it though. Seems to me that the first company that makes this seat cover is gonna strike it big.

Re: color combo's for interiors

Jocko,
Your truck is flat out awesome.
283 Nova,
Do you have any pictures of your current set-up?
Since I am not quite done with my interior yet (I need to paint my doors) I thought i'd slip in here and see what ya'll think.

Since my seats and carpet are black the stock fawn color and black are the two prominent colors.
  1. I am planning the "fawn" color for the entire door with black in the door panel inset (where the originals, like Jocko's is white).
  2. Other option is fawn door, black door panel and fawn stripe in the door panel inset.
What do yall think?

I agree, it might not be original/stock, but it would provide a much "richer" appearance, more like an expensive passenger car.

Re: color combo's for interiors

Lakeroadster, thanks for the compliment, much appreciated. I'm likin your interior too - and I like the custom idea of replacing the stock white stripe with a black stripe to coordinate with your interior colors - I think that would look great (so that gets my vote over the black door panel with a fawn insert all on a fawn door - I think the reverse scheme of the black stripe would look better). Nice custom interior and the way you're keeping the stock colors in there somehow is gonna look sweet I think.

Re: color combo's for interiors

corrent set up is orange/white was just wondering because i am thinking of taking the door panels off and either having them chromed, or repainted a satin orange. or i have thought about leaving the inside shiny to offset the satin outside.

i am going to painte this truck satin orange with some metallic, with a white satin top with some pearl.

and chrome reverse wheels.

heres pics of current setup

Re: color combo's for interiors

I am going for an OE (if there ever was such an OE) look. The interior paint will be fawn(ish) with tan seats, doors, dash, and trim with light saddle carpet. I am trying to wrap as much of my interior in upholstery for a rich/plush look to offset the rough exterior.

Re: color combo's for interiors

Need a little help with my interior colors. Does anyone know the Sherwin Williams color match for the fawn interior color ('66 fleetside)? I've tried several websites but can't seem to get a match. Thanks a bunch.

I used krylon Brush Metallic in Caramel Latte because I liked the color with my tan leather. But the same brand in Champagne is near a dead match for the fawn.

i really like the original looks of yours.i'm not wild about the 62 color so i matched mine to the exterior but i love the originals.

Re: color combo's for interiors

i tried to keep mine in the original "theme" but in matching the main interior color to the exterior color which i might have to change back to the original color someday. i really like the originals that were added to this thread.
but of course mine is a plain jane example and besides adding carpet in the future it will stay towards original so perhaps this will help.

good luck!

How closely do these colors match the original Fawn and Silver? My GMC is silver inside, but it has been resprayed, and I do not have a Fawn truck to look at.

The white door panels have since been repainted red. IMO the the white didn't work with the red like it did with the original beige.

this is the color you want. if you clear coat it note that the color changes a little. without the clear coat its a match to the Fawn

on my door panels has the satin clear but the speaker grill does not have any clear coat. its hard to tell in the pic. plus my doors are really faded so it does not look like a match but when i removed the door panel it looked almost perfect.
