New dude from Roswell

Hello,
I'm new to this forum as I just purchased an original '71 GMC K1500 and plan on fixing it up as I drive it. I also plan on this being my last truck, the keeper. Ok, well maybe the first of several. I'm in my 50's so I'm not new to these cool trucks. My grandfather sold me his '57 Chevy 1/2 ton for $100 after we got back from the dealership with his new '72 Chevy 1/2 ton. I drove the wheels off that truck in SW KS. After 3 years in the Army moved to Flagstaff where I had a '67 1/2 ton 4x4 that I swear would go anywhere my M60A1 tank could, and I tried as often as possible.
Thanks much for all this knowledge and a way to share it.
