Re: Pics of transmission coolers
Thanks for the pics. Do you have the part number for the cooler you bought? Did you install a trans temp guage?

Re: Pics of transmission coolers
Post #29 of my build thread. I've had no problems with it so far.

Re: Pics of transmission coolers
I used a small condensing unit out of a commercial refer. From 85 to 2000 it was mounted in front of the radiator and worked with no problems. This time I am putting it under the passenger step. I left enough room for a thin electric fan if the temps get out of hand. I put in a tee to monitor the temp at the output line before the cooler. Because the frame, transmission, etc. flex so much off road I use hose connections between the hard lines and transmission.

Re: Pics of transmission coolers
I have a 11"x11" by 1.5" oil cooler out of a class a motor home i am thinking about using. I would have to move radiator in from support about a 3/4" to be able to mount it in front of radiator to clear cross bracing.

Re: Pics of transmission coolers
It's not quite what you were after, but here is a Fuel/Air heat exchanger from an USMC F/A-18. I have several work related "easter eggs" incorporated into my old truck. We would change these out when ever the fuel started to run hot on the jet. They cost Uncle Sam $27,349.61 each, but seems to keep my tranny fluid nice and cool.

Re: Pics of transmission coolers
SM&R code of PAOZZ, Dispose of at unit level. No turn-in required. Got me worried, and had to go pull up the pubs on NATEC to double-check. We wont talk about the dozens of cruise boxes filled with parts and PEB, stored in my garage during inspections. That's why I love working on this old truck. No rules or pubs, if I think it'll work, I try it and see if I like it.
