Decided to spend some more time smoothing the firewall while we clean and collect parts...got the CPP grand slam kit in along with a couple PRP seats

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
No, too much hassle. We may install a simple 4 point, but lap belts at least. I neglected to omit the crotch hole when we ordered up the seats
Yea, hopefully the wife will forget about all this by then...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Thanks man! I would like to paint it back to the original balboa blue (what we've used on the firewall), but I'm gonna let the wife have the final call on that...it'll be a blue/siver of some sort though.
Still collecting parts and knocking items off of the "list" Ran the fuel lines from tank to carb (filter/electric pump to 3/8 Al. hardline to braided 6AN up through filter/regulator to carb), and ran lines/shaft for the ps. Also picked up a double pass Al. radiator we will drop some electric fans on... Going slow...too damn hot around here to stay motivated!

Long day/night/morning of working on things and a couple quick before and after pics! Well, I guess a couple of during and during pics, but you get the idea.

Hey, thanks! We found the air cleaner at Spectro after lots of seaching. The one thing that bugs us is that on their website, it's shown with nice tig welds that would have coordinated well with the valve covers...the one that showed up was mig welded

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Worked on getting the front end together last night/this morning (lots cooler after the sun goes down).
We were doing pretty good having pressed in new lower ball joints and installing the a-arms...until we figured out that CPP had sent us some goofy lower ball joints that were a good 1/2" short. Fortunately, O'Relly's had the right Moog joints in stock...pics show the difference and my boy going from not so happy to happy again as he assembled, disassembled, and assembled again

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We hogged out the holes on the crossmember and upgraded to the later model, much larger, LCA u-bolts...big difference.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
After the initial stumbling around, everything pretty much fell into place. We also cleaned up and installed a 1 1/4" swaybar off of a later model 1 ton...hoping that it will help tame the mean lean the burbs have

The engine was broke in a bit on a stand while the valves were adjusted in, but haven't fired it since then. Maybe in a couple weeks though, waiting on a few more parts to come in.

What is this mean lean you speak of? 1st I've heard this mentioned, but I'm still quite new to the burb world. Thanks

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Hey Chad, good to hear from ya! The plan is to have a fun runner for the family, hope it comes out that way.
No problem on the grill, it's not going anywhere...just let us know what you need done. Still knocking items off the list. We cleaned up the driver's side inner fender (welded/smoothed holes/rust) along with the rad support...shot some semi-gloss black and started refitting them together. We decided to drop a tubular, finned, tranny cooler under the rad support(behind the front bumper)...so we did some ventilating in preparation Also got tierods/centerlink/idler all in, but damn, that centerlink was only about 1/8" off the crossmember...so steering is pretty much done
