Fiberglass hood?

I weighed my stock steel hood the other day and it weighed 70 lbs. I want to get a fiberglass hood shed some weight. Does anyone have any brand sugestions? The lightest one I've found so far is vfn but I've never heard of them.

I agree with Blue Rat,Some of the cheaper hoods are really hard to work the waves out of.

Re: Fiberglass hood?

The only problem with the harwood is its almost as heavy as the stock hood.

Re: Fiberglass hood?

I agree but you can use your hood hinges without buckling the hood. I had a lightweight glass hood on my camaro with hood pins and lost it one night at 100+ just about messed my pants.

Re: Fiberglass hood?

I've had both Harwood and 2 Unlimited Products hoods. The Harwood by far is a much better hood. Harwood hoods have underside finished and fit is much better than both unlimited hoods I had. Also the Harwood hood was #40-#42 while the goodmark steel hood it replaced was #68. Go Harwood you won't be disappointed.

Re: Fiberglass hood?

VFN is a high quality product line; don't be afraid to go with them if you choose not to go with Harwood. I've used both of those company's products and have been happy with fit and finish.

Re: Fiberglass hood?

I have a glass bumper . It was made by Shakedown in Lindale Tx . They made a mold off my bumper. It's been sitting at Kenneth Herrings shop forever. I want it to look chrome and couldn't find anyone to do a chrome like finish at the time so it sits. I had friend at Harwood give me a hood after they used my truck for test fitting. The finish was good but it was heavy. It fit at all four corners but the gap on the sides would have taken alot of work. I ended up trading it to a guy for fixing my steel hood.
