LM7 exhaust options...

Hello all,

First off, I think I've searched the site pretty well and can't seem to find the information I'm looking for.

I'm currently installing a '00 LM7 into my '64 Stepside. I have read, and it proved to be true, that the exhaust manifolds that came on the LM7 will not fit without massaging the frame. I would rather not do that. I've heard that stock exhaust manifolds from forth generation Camaro's will fit, but I can't seem to find what years will work. I'm open to actual headers as well, but again, not sure who makes them. If anyone can help, I would be greatful.

I have shortie headers from Sanderson, CSLS1 is the model. I know that Doug Thorley make 1-5/8 and 1-3/4" long tubes, but those are $5-600 I believe. There are some Camaro headers that hooker makes that would also work. You can also use the TBSS stock manifolds since they hug the block the best as far as stock mani's.

Because I'm a newb, or simply ignorant, I have a couple of more questions. Is my LM7 engine considered a LS engine? Also, what are TBSS stock manifolds?

I went straight to the Sanderson website and found the headers you referred to. Here is what it says: "The CSLS1 is a V8 conversion header for Chevy LS1 engine swaps in two wheel drive (2WD) Chevrolet S-10 truck and Blazer (incluidng GMC S-15) applications.This header also fits LS1 engine conversions in 1964-Up Chevrolet Chevelle and El Camino."

I did find some Cadillac CTS-V stock exhaust manifolds locally, but they don't fit. Shame cause they look like shorty headers and appear like they would flow pretty well.

I'm using them on my '64'. Very nice fit with ECE mounts.

IIRC, we used, on 6.0 engine from a 2003 Silverado, the right-side that came on it; for driver's side, we used one from a Camaro LS1--both close, but cleared as they emptied far enough atop the frames to allow exhaust to be run. (The driver's side from the 6.0 was shaped too far away from engine, and the one from the Camaro was more of a 'block-hugger' design.) We made our own mounts for engine, so as to keep the low-mount ac comp, & had to modify hump a tad to keep the 4L80E trans. Since the manifold was already off, I'd just hafta guess it was from about a 1999 +/- year model. (BTW:I bo't it from Hawk's here in Easley, SC.)HTH

yes it is an LSx motor. I know they say what they fit is an S10, but I have them, they look good and they work nicely, no fitment issue at all. I have the Performance Online motor perches and just normal ls to sbc plates that almost everyone sells.
