87 305 or 350

so i just bought an 87 silverado. The vin says it has a 350 tbi in it but the ad from craigslist said it had a 305 prob just a typo but how do i check the engine to make sure it is a 350 and not a 305?

For an 87 350 the 8th digit in the vin will be K unless very early production may still show L or M.

305's will be 8th digit H.

That's if they're stock.

Casting numbers on the block for 86 up are 10051184, 10054727, or 10066036 for stock block 350's or 10066038 for GMPP crate 350's. Other year 350's are available though. If you're not sure just post the block casting number and we can find it.

I found a few more numbers for 350's for that year but the truck 350's from that year stock vehicles should be one of those already pictured.
