Hose Candy

What do you guys think about the stainless hose sleeve kits? Are they decent quality wise?

I was thinking of dressing the hoses up some.

These kits run around 45 bucks on ebay. Anyone know of a better deal?

Re: Hose Candy

I was running one and removed all but the heater hose & vacuum line kits. They collect alot of dirt/dust. They do look nice. I have spent more than I care to talk about to run the real AN fittings /high pressure lines on the big block that im building. The sleeve kit is far cheaper. The only thing I didnt like about the sleeve kit is that it leaves hose clamps everywhere and everyone knows its not the real thing. But dont let that discourage you from installing one. They are easy to install, just go slow so you dont kink the braided wire sliding it over the hoses. I also ran electric tape over the ends before installing the caps & hose clamps....otherwise the braided line opens up and make installing the caps a bear. You cant see the tape once the caps are on.

Re: Hose Candy

We installed these on my son's 67 Lemans and it looked great. My only complaint is the kits are not as complete as I would like. They dont include enough sleeve or end pieces to do the lower radiator hose and misc. other lines...If the budget allows, buy two kits and you will have extra parts and sleeve when you are done.

Re: Hose Candy

I don't like the look, they also collect dirt and look grubby as stated above. Also they make it harder to monitor the condition of your hoses.

Re: Hose Candy

the get dirty and never come clean. They dull out over time and get ugly. New they are fine, but after a yr. or so the begin to look bad.

Re: Hose Candy

Thanks for the opinions/advise! Much appreciated. Like anything else it comes down to personal preference I guess.

The hoses themselves can get pretty grimy too. Good to know that they don't hold up over time. I don't want to redo it every year or so.
