Just installed the tv made ez in a 700r4 , 5.3l .all pressures look good but if you floor it to kick down the cable stays out but as soon as you turn the truck off it sucks right back in. I did change to the longer spring. Im gonna call them on monday but i would like to fix it today if i can.

You have something in a bind or bent something like the TV Lift link-rod (arrows), Also......

Figure # 1 shows the WRONG, but the easiest way to hook the TV Lift link.
Figure # 2 illustrates the CORRECT assembly.

Re: tv made ez issue

What bothers me is with the truck off i can grab the t.b and cycle the throttle as many times as i want and it always goes back in fine. Whats different when the engine is running?

The TV lift bracket has a return spring on it.....It will try to retract the cable....Thats how I Know something is not right with your setup-installation, This is nothing the BTO kit would cause.

I got my lift rod prob fixed thanks for the picture. I have high idle trans pressure, thinking my tv is stuck i tried the cable snap trick 1000 times and nothing. I noticed that the tv plunger will move in and out a bit before it touches thd spring. Is this any indication my tv is stuck ? I havent taken anything apart yet.

To confirm a sticking throttle valve: Remove the TV bracket, the throttle valve plunger sleeve, and spring. The small throttle valve at the rear of the bore can then be checked, with a small magnet, for freedom of movement.

Do not remove or loosen any bolts other than those retaining the TV bracket assembly. Often the throttle valve will appear free once the valve body bolts are loosened, or removed.

Re: tv made ez issue

The slack in the spring & plunger is normal on a stock TV stack, pressure is applied to the back side of the TV valve to take up the slack when the engine is running.

Beginning in '84, the 700R4 started using TV exhaust checkball in the valve body (see Figure 2). The purpose of the TV exhaust checkball is to prevent low or minimum mainline pressure in the event the TV cable should break or become disconnected.

This TV exhaust checkball is normally held off its seat by a small pin on the Lift bracket assembly (see "A" in Figure 1).

If the TV cable should break or become disconnected, the TV exhaust checkball will seat, producing high mainline oil pressure, and causing harsh and delayed upshifts.

Not all Lift bracket assemblies have pin "A", as shown in Figure 1.

If a 1982-83 Lift bracket assembly is used in conjunction with a TV exhaust checkball, the results will be harsh and delayed upshifts, just as if the TV cable was broken, or disconnected.

Check if you have the TV exhaust checkball & The pin on the lift bracket

I never install the TV exhaust checkball. So even if the wrong lift bracket is used it wont effect my trans.

Re: tv made ez issue

What are the pressure's at idle now? Did your valve body have the TV exhaust checkball?

Running high or low line pressure will kill a 700R4.
