Cal Tracs

So sitting in the desert again so I have nothing but time to kill. I am curious as to how good Cal Tracs work on our heavy-@$$ trucks. I am working on an 85 C10 and want to try and get into the 10s some how some way. I already have the front suspension rebuilt and have everything but axles and brakes for my 9". I am going to use adjustable shocks on all corners and a drag radial(not sure on size yet). I will start with a stock 5.3 or 6.0 and plan on adding a turbo later on down the road.

Re: Cal Tracs

I cant speak for the fullsize trucks , but on my truck the caltracs and split monos work good . I will say that a drag radial is alot different then a conventional slick .

Re: Cal Tracs

My buddy runs a 64 Nova Wagon. It is definitely weighted differently than a truck would be. On a 235 MT DR with a mono leaf and Caltracks, he went high 10's on motor with a dead hooked 1.56 60' and sprayed a 150 hit out of the hole cutting mid 1.4's. Unfortunately the motor had different ideas, every singlr main broke in it. He had to lift about the 1/8 mark. It would have gone real low 10's and maybe a high 9.

He is putting together a completely different deal, going blower this time around. But I figure it will run pretty hard on a 235 mono leaf Caltracks.

Re: Cal Tracs

If I had leaf spring I would run Cal Tracs for sure. I was real impressed with them on my buddies 67 Camaro. 406 turbo 350 drove to the trac on 275/60/15 drag radial went 7.0's 1/8 mile on Motor and 6.40 progressing a 200 shot. He went 10.20's in the quarter with a passenger.
