on Classic indus. IMHO, your paying extra for a name, unless they can show the part is made other than where LMC gets them from (possible but doubtful). I've bought over a thoughsand dollars of stuff from LMC and have not got a bum deal yet.

Does anybody have a good view of the inner door inside the blower housing on the 64-66 Deluxe heater? This flap is actuated by a cable that protrudes through the firewall on the inboard side of the box, adjacent to the passenger-side valve cover. I'm restoring mine, and the rubber material (the flap) on the edge of the door was missing. I had to remove the entire door, which meant cutting the lever arm off and driving the pin through.

The picture angle I need to see is where the lever arm is in relation to the door's position inside the blower housing. I'm 95% sure of where it needs to go, but I would hate to get it wrong and have the door not go open fully or be 180 degrees off of the lever position.

By the way, my heater assembly is for an A/C truck. My original box was so rusted that I'm swapping all the A/C specific parts over to a good rust-free box. I'm not sure if the flap is specific for the A/C trucks.

In response to the earlier questions asking about late model heater motor options, I swapped my original for one out of a Pontiac Fiero. The main thing I was looking for was one that rotated in the correct direction. At the time it seemed the only models I could find were those in S10 pickups and the Fiero. The advantage of the Fiero over the S10 is that they are all mounted in the trunk, so they are clean and look like new compared to one that’s been mounted under the hood for a couple of decades.

The heater case required some minor trimming, but the much larger plastic fan fit into the case without modification. The motor itself is the newer permanent magnet design. On high speed airflow is about twice that of the original fan and motor. The rubber hose is presumably for motor ventilation. It doesn't go anywhere in my installation, so I just pointed it downward to keep dust out.

When I search online for Fiero blower motors is see two varieties, one with a tall fan (AC) and the other a short fan (non-AC). Do you know which one you used that fit so well? I'm assuming the short, but I'd happily be wrong!

I don’t know whether I got a tall or short fan, but the white nylon squirrel cage is 2 ¾” tall. I picked up two at the same time so I’d have a spare (just in case) so it was easy to measure the one sitting on the shelf. Hopefully one of the sellers shows dimensions to know which is which.

I cleaned and painted the heater box in the engine compartment when putting back together what do you as gaskets when i took it apart it looked like some kind of putty

Use some rubberized caulking that is black, silicone might be work also..Vernski

got the NAPA store to find seal for the H-16 heater core number is 660-1000 cost $9.00 fits Chevy Ford Chrysler listed for Corvette 55-57

I have not figured out what the large hole in front is for just yet, any Ideas?

The large hole in the front of the box is for the cable. Its surrounded by a round rubber holder i guess but the cable goes through there and hooks to the control valve. I have pics of mine as I just rebuilt mine a few weeks ago.

I am equipped with the inside circulation heater, and I got the idea to try to connect the incoming air to the foot vent (or make a hole) with a hose. Anyone done anything similar?

Here in northern part of europe we are not overwhelmed with high temp during summer..
And the windows gets foggy kinda often even in modern cars.. So I think I need the fresh air..

just gettin around to the heater part on my 1960 Apache "revitilization". Ordered a cable kit from LMC and was scratchin my head on the heater valve cable not bein long enough. I made one off a lawn mover but it was too hard to move and likely woulda snapped off the heater control arm. I looked inside the core body and its set up with 2 cable clamps, front and back. So I drilled a hole in the firewall and another in the backside of the heater body, same as in the pic above, and the LMC cable is now long enough.
Guess thats why Chevy changed it up.

How do you remove the (deluxe) heater control assy? I've looked all over here & post #49 was helpful but after removing the 2 screws in front and the support screw it will not come out.

Maybe I can help. I just reinstalled my '64 GMC Deluxe heater and there are two studs that protrude into the cab from under the hood. These studs use a 7/16" nut on the inside of the firewall. There are also six coarse thread bolts that attach the top portion of the heater box to the cowl. These bolts are bolted right into the cowl and use no attaching nuts. However, a couple of the holes in my cowl had been stripped so I used 1/2" speed nuts (available from Home Depot, Lowe's, etc) see image to allow the attaching bolts to be tightened properly.
