big engines and stock suspension

Are there any people in here running a 396 or 454 engine in their TF series trucks with stock suspension? I'm building a 58 TF for my wife and would like big power engine wise. As far as the suspension, we are going to drop it 3, 4, or 5 inches but i want to keep it fairly stock. I'm really not interested in the whole mustang 2 and 4 link stuff. I know it would improve ride quality but i just want to be able to stomp the gas and get on it every now and then without the truck falling apart. Would i need to box the frame with a bigger engine? Any help with information on the basic stuff i will need to do with the bigger engine setup is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: big engines and stock suspension

My 57 swb came with a 454/200r4 and the only change I could see was the motor mount cross bar and a rear trans bar were added. When I rebuilt the 454 I ground the motor mounts down so the engine would move 3/4" forward. Therefore the rocker arm covers would no longer hit the firewall.
The problems that occur after that are:
New radiator (69 camero bb), electric fans with shroud ( motor fan will no longer fit)
Headers on steering side will touch the steering box (custom tube needed) to fix
Make your own radiator mounts
Engine was heating at 215, I wrapped the headers and the temp fell imeadately to 190 on my gauge
Add overflow tank
and other assorted parts as the need come's up
