65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

I found a truck in a field out by my parents house. After 3 months I tracked down the owner of the land. He has an awesome collection of pickups and Cameros.

The truck I was interested in is a original owner 65 c10 v8 4x4. Deluxe dash, no chrome strips. Right door has holes and a little rough from aftermarket mirrors. The left bed side needs some love but it's all there. It's been sitting under a tree for 20yrs but I climbed around it and there is no rust. With no pictures what's it worth??? I would like to cut it up make it may frame and be a shortbed but I don't think I could do that to a truck like that with that history.

Thanks
Kyle

if it is a 4 x 4 it is a K10 not a C10, it is pretty difficult to assess anything without viewing it

I would offer $1500 for it and go from there.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

start low and then you can always go up. When i see one I always say what are you thinking you want for it? then say well for scrap price i will go this much it weighs less than 2 ton but I will pay you the price of scrap for 2 tons and you dont have to mess with it most say sure and some say absolutly not then i just counter offer I usually try to offer more than scrap price if its nice sometimes you score sometimes you have to give more depends on how much you wanna spend I also explain to them I DO NOT SCRAP THEM and show them pics of my own truck rebuild then they understand you got a heart and are into fixing them some say they could care less tho

Here's a 4x4 burb. The owner is asking $800.00 for it.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

He asked me if it was worth $3500. My response was to the right person of the right day with the right pocket full of money............... Maybe, but to me........ No. It's been there along time, I doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon. I'll let it sit for a month and go back with $1500 cash in hand and see what he says. I'll try and get some pictures.

Tell him there are a ton of them up north that run for around 2k and about 500 to ship. Then go up to 2k just cuz you dont want to deal with having one shipped.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

Luckily this thing is only 10 miles from my shop so it makes it easy. The first 5 pictures are of the truck I would like to get my hands on. Its covered by a tree so I did the best a cell phone could do.

Here is some of his other stuff

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

it looks ok but being under trees its got twigs and needles falling in it and looks like the back window is out of it so the cab has had moisture in it I am guessing and when there is tree droppings on stuff it holds moisture and causes rust I would show up with $1000 in cash $100 that makes people change there mind quick some times good luck

I agree with Travis. With all that crap piled up at the bottom of the windshield there's bound to be some rust. Still looks pretty solid though, and I noticed a lot of other eye candy there.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

I've seen trucks in much better shape for 600-700 bucks, I wouldn't pay anywhere near 1500 dollars for that....

As neglected as that thing is and the SPID is still on the glove box! Better check under the seat for the build manifest too.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

It definitely looks like a 66. I would be inquiring about the title and comparing it to the VIN before I went shelling out too many franklin's. I live in 4x4 country so they are more common but something like that I wouldn't pay more that a $1000 for. Good luck with your purchase. If you do get it ask for as much paperwork as possible like the protecto plate.

Agreed, Its not worth over $1k. And sitting under a tree like that, I bet there is rust hidden in the cab under the mat, in the bottoms of the doors and probabaly in the usual places like fenders and rockers too.

Re: 65 c10 4x4 what's it worth?

I sure am glad I didnt have cash with me right then and there. There more I sit and think about it, you are all right. its a $500-$1000 truck. I have just been dying to find a 64-66. I would really like a straight 6 and 3 on the tree short bed 2wd. Its just going to be a little shop truck so the cheaper the better. Thanks for your input.

i agree with 63geniii - i'd be asking about the white 63 before i went down the road in this 66... much better starting point (and of course with a mich higher up front investment to buy it, but you'd come out ahead in the end if you can swing it).
