Need help deciding on drop...
Here is what I am planning on doing...
2.5 inch drop spindles plus 1 inch drop coils for front and 4 inch drop coils for the rear. I don't want the truck to be lower in the back, if anything I want it to look even or maybe very slightly higher than the front. Next option is 2.5 inch drop spindles plus 2 inch drop coils in front and 5 inch drop coil in back. I plan on running 20 inch wheels all the way around, and like the look of the truck being low enough for me to be able to just barely see the top of the tire if i were to squat down. The rear can be just a little higher. Any of you have pics of this kind of set up?? |

If you have a trailing arm suspension I would use air bags on the rear, they are not that expensive and you will then be able to adjust the ride height to where you like it, instead of guessing where it will end up. Kieth

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
Thats the set up I just installed on my project The end result was a slight rake but not as low in the front as i hoped, but I do feel they will settle in a little lower plus I still have some sheet metal to be installed which will add some more weight. The wheels and tires are 235/75-15

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
My experence is 1 inch dropped springs will not lower more than orginal springs...Probally due to orginal springs have settled over the years....I would suggest keeping the orginal springs or 2 inch dropped springs

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
My set up was 2 1/2" drop spindles with 1" drop coils in the front and 4" drop coils in the rear. The rear seems fine but I wish I had gone another inch in the front

Don't you usually get a 1'' drop for each 1/2 coil cut? |

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
I went w/ a 4/6 drop using CPP modular drop spindles and springs. I put c-notches in the rear and have 20" wheels. The frame sits level. Don't have a body on it yet, but everything I've looked at says it'll work and be level chk it out in my build thread.

I like this look the most so far! Thanks guys! Wassp. What shocks did you use? Also, do you have a side picture of your truck? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
Hugov, I got the springs and lowered shocks as a kit from ccp, the spindles and brakes came from Brothers. My truck is kind of tucked in a corner right now and I'm going through the rear brakes right now so it's hard to get a full side view pic. here is a link on the whole project with pics if interested.

Re: Need help deciding on drop...
FYI when I dropped the rear of my 65....I bought the CCP rear shock locator.....Its worthless....What I did is removed the rear lower shock mounts....turned them around and swapped sides....I had to drill 2 holes to line up the u bolts...this puts the shock behind the axle...I bought two front shocks and used the included hardware and drilled a hole at the top of the frame and after bolting the shock to the lower bracket to locate where to drill...worked for me....I wish I could say its my idea but it isnt...I found it on the HAMB
