Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Hey Hector, Thanks! How's your truck these days? I just got back to work on mine a week ago. Been trying to finish the fatmat in the cab and doing a little detail stuff until my help comes Saturday.
Here is a cool shot I took yesterday.... can't believe its getting close. |

Yeah that is our Masonry hauler... I have to dig around and see about some pics. I posted a while back in a thread on dump trucks or haulers not sure how to find it again.

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Thanks, no big deal. I wanted to see the bed. I have a swb K10 with a rotten bed. I was thinking about building a flatbed with some nice oak rails on it.

Truck looks great! Hope to see it in person soon! Now that my job has me traveling and it looks like I'll be adding Orange and Fredericksburg to my territory I'll get to come through your way sometimes for work...

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Yeah I hope drag the boat to the river a few times at least. I've been working on putting the Fatmat in the cab and trying to get the interior wiring all figured out. I have help but that's only on the weekends and the progress seems kinda slow.
Thanks man! What's new with your truck... any new goodies? |

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Thought I would post some pics of the interior in progress... The firewall, floor, behind the tank etc, all covered with Rattle trap (fat mat).
I decided to double it up on most of the areas??? Anybody doing this? I figured it couldn't hurt. As you can see I have made some progress it just seems slow going at the moment. I do have a question on my vintage air that I will post over on the general area. Thanks for looking and if you see something or have an idea post it up. |

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Here is a pic of the lines. The bottom two that go to the heater core didn't come with grommets. I have not found anything locally either??? What can you guys suggest.
I just stuck the clamps on it for now but I need something a little more finished looking. Also I want the firewall sealed from water/air Ideas? |

Another thing you might think of is slapping a little of that fat mat inside your doors. Will help 'deaden' them a bit when opening and closing and just general rattling going down the road. Seemed to make a diff in mine anyway. Try shutting your door without it, sticking some in, and shutting it again. We noticed a definite difference.

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Eric I was actually thinking of cutting some speedo line I have left from boat projects to do just that. More than anything I want it waterproof and of course to protect the line from rubbing.
The other thing is the clamps that they send with the kit just look like crap!.. I mean they are Gotta figure something else out |

As for water proof, I would think the only thing you would have to worry about is when you wash the engine bay. Driving down the road shouldn't throw water up in there. Maybe you could use some of that sticky wrap they include with their kit to create a barrier from inside. None on the outside of the firewall of course.

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
I might be able to move the clamps.....hmmm
Now why didn't I think of that.... Too many irons in the fire I guess. I feel like I walk around the truck in circles and get very little done for some reason. Anyway I will check it out tomorrow evening. |

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
That looks great Chris! I bought some grommets for mine from Mcmaster carr. I am doing a similar setup on mine but because my Vintage Air kit is so old it doesn't have the same setup as yours. I'm going to make a cover plate to house my firewall connections. Keep up the good work.

Re: 72 Not sure what to call it yet resto!
Mike I have the plate that came with mine if you would need that and also I have a polished 4 hole bulkhead for the lines.
I can't remember but you shaved the firewall didn't you? And about 50 misc crimp fittings from various projects my one,... and Dad's 3 or 4. |
