Power Steering and Brakes advice

Hello Guys,

I am brand new to Chevy Trucking. I just bought a project 1970 C10 LWB it has a 350 engine.

I need some advice or resources. I have never worked on any vehicles myself. I am a complete newbie!!

Where can I find resources to guide me through adding power steering or power brakes. I also am having an idling issue as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the fold. The after market parts for these trucks are amazing. The help and advice you can get from the forums is invaluable. I will give you one tip that is often over looked. Before you disassemble anything get out your digital camera and take lots of pictures. Everything you think you will remember, I promise, you will forget. Take photos during the tear down of any small project.

for my 68 build i bought a 72 parts truck and robbed almost the entire front running gear off of it; brakes, powersteering, suspension, motor mounts, everything.

this way i can always get replacement parts as everything is OEM and can usually be picked up locally.

welcome to our little world!!! Bugmasta has it right. If you want to really get your best bang for the buck, find a 72.....be it wrecked, rusted out, thrashed, motor shot but all there......biggest thing you are looking for is the front disc assemblies, power brake booster, master cylinder and proportioning valve, and your power steering pump, brackets, hoses and power steering block. If you must go aftermarket so that you get new, there are several sites dedicated to our trucks.

The guys are right. I got my power steering set up from a 72 suburban that had a 3/4 ton option. Had to adjust my steering column a bit but it all went in over a weekend. $75 dollars for the box, linkage and hoses.

You can buy your pump, gearbox,hoses,belts, and match a pulley from the local parts store. Buy your brackets from someone here and order your steering coupler from LMC. The brackets and other parts should come from 1972. You will have to change your crank shaft and watr pump pullies to again a 1972 with power steering. Good luck
