62 Chevy with 261 what to do for a cheap HEI

I did a search and didn't really come up with any answers. Is there a cheap HEI or a cheap way of making one for a 261 Chevy L6. What vehicles have one that will work with the minimal amount of customizing? Thanks in advance.

Re: 62 Chevy with 261 what to do for a cheap HEI

Thanks guys. Sorry for the delayed reply. This is in my buddies truck and he found a 250 HEI and already has it fitted to the truck.

New problem now. When he was trying to get it going it seemed like it would only fire on one cylinder. He took the valve cover off and found two broken rockers and 6 bent push rods. He hammered on the valves on and they moved but didn't come back up so I'm guessing it stuck at least 6 valves and now he is going to pull the head and try to rework it. Does anyone know what the valve stem size is? He wants to get a reamer ordered while he works on customer cars before he takes the head apart.
