Has anyone out there tried the Edelbrock TBI intake, Trans-Dapt spacer and Comp Cams computer cam combination.
So far I've only installed a Harris Performance Chip and that did improve performance fuel mileage.

Re: 87 7.4 Build

i have the intake, dont see any need for a spacer, it seems to me like they engineered the intake to have one built in (its as tall as a carb intake with a spacer on it) and i was going to put a computer cam in my 454 also, but everyone i talked to from the manufacturers said that the power improvement i would notice would be minimal without having a chip made specifically to the exact set up i had, and it would still be iffy with a good chip due to the tbi computer being so slow. the intake is nice, had to open up the intake area to work with the 54mm tbi i have, and relieve the egr mounting area slightly to get the bolt in that also holds the ac bracket. hope this info helps a little

Re: 87 7.4 Build

Hi cmax87v3500, thanks for the input, I already installed a Harris Performance TBI towing chip. I definitely noticed an increase in power and mileage, the only downfall is you have to use premium fuel or it will ping, but the increased mileage and power make up for it. The chip has a good enough tune to upgrade the cam, so I'm going to try an Edelbrock #2162 cam and lifter kit along with the #3764 intake. The spacer is supposed add just a little more. The total combination is supposed to make some awesome low and midrange torque. I can't wait to try it, I'll post how it works out.

Re: 87 7.4 Build

Have you tried it with the chip and lower grade fuel? Factory compression is less than 8:1, you should be able to run piss gas in that, regardless of the tune.
Head over to the 454SS site, there are a lot of guys there with experience with TBI setups.
