Would I Get Lynched if I Use a Ford Color for my Engine Paint?

I was trying to get a certain color for my engine, and I thought I had found what I wanted, but it turned out WAY to greenish. It wasn't a GM color to begin with and I'm not going to use it anymore.

Now I have been looking for an alternate blue, so it can match the detailing that I am going to do. The problem is... it is a Ford color.

Would I be committing the unforgivable sin by painting my Chevy engine with a Ford color? I had a Chevy with a Ford narrowed 9" rear end before, but this is a different story.

Your thoughts?

Oh man, an "adjustment" team may have already been dispatched. Quick, turn out the lights, draw the blinds, and DON'T open the door! lol.

Lol!!! Don't ask, don't tell!

In that case..... I am painting my engine with a CUSTOM color... yeah, that's the ticket... with my wife... Morgan Fairchild.. yeah, that's it.

PLEASE DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS POST, IT HAD A TYPO AND "CUSTOM" WAS MISSPELLED AS "FORD."

Uh, did I say "Ford"? I meant to say "Ft. Ord" which is a color from the central coast of CA.

Re: Would I Get Lynched if I Use a Ford Color for my Engine Paint?

We're using a blue (oval) engine paint on ours...everywhere it was one of the closest matches to what we wanted and I like it...its just a color

Some guy thought he needed to give me grief about it at a local car show this last summer...I laughed at him.

That looks like the exact color I am looking for. What paint did you use and where did you get it from? Beautiful engine! Great job!

Re: Would I Get Lynched if I Use a Ford Color for my Engine Paint?

My engine and truck are pretty much variations of F*rd colors. Its a compliment to chevy...like putting a big block in a fox body...It says, thanks for the idea F*rd, now watch Chevy make it look good

I don't think you're too out of line, as I saw some of the factory correct guys debating on a Ford green engine color. ....just don't tell anybody, or the PO painted it & you have no idea what it is

Lol. Yeah, the PO painted it! I guess I will have to keep that out of the build thread that I am going to start. Lol.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the factory correct guys spray samples of 3 or 4 different paints and compare them to the stock color (as if 30 to 40 years of fading isn't going to matter). I am not trying to do a restoration, so I think I'm all good.

Ding, ding, ding... We have a winner! It's "Cadillac Blue!" Good one. I just might use that, if cornered by a die hard GM expert.

Thanks.
