Intermittent voltage gauge

My new voltmeter gauge only works once in a while. Usually pegged all the way to the left, no volts. I know it is a gauge problem, not a charging system issue.

Feels like a loose wire or bad ground. Honestly, I have no idea what wire to look for. Any ideas? What color wire, and where do I look?

Thanks!

Maybe - or perhaps an idiot owner!

I honestly don't even know how this hooks up - what kind of sender is there? I did not do this install...

Re: Intermittent voltage gauge

I hate having to do this myself, but I'd probably start by pulling the gauge cluster and soldering each point of contact for the new wires on the new gauge. At the gauge itself, and wherever they connect. Those little connectors they use are too hard to tell if they're making good connection sometimes, so solder is a way to cut that out of the equation.

Re: Intermittent voltage gauge

Gigem.....you really should invest in a set of triple gauges for underdash like stewart warner or sunpro etc
