Re: lowering question
5/7 or 6/8 depending on how settled your springs were to begin with. All you would need to do is notch the frame in the back a bit.

Re: lowering question
3.5" in the front and 4" in the rear can be done without cutting into the frame.

Re: lowering question
5/5in without notching the frame but it will have a rake. 3/5in if you want it to sit level. If you want it more than 5in in the rear you will need to c-notch the frame for suspension travel(axle to frame clearance), you will need a bare min of 2in for that.

Re: lowering question
Any exhaust shop can install a notch, and from what I have heard from friends are the cheapest places to do it.

Re: lowering question
I dropped mine 4/6 and was told I shouldn't have to notch it. I have 2.5 drop spindles, 1.5 drop springs and a rear flip kit all from Western Chassis. My truck is in pieces so I can't really say much until I get all the weight back on it and put it back on the road. There are alot of threads on this subject. Take some time and do a search. Then you can see what they look like with the drops they have on.

Re: lowering question
2.5in drop spindle, 1in drop spring, flip kit, and shock extenders. This will give you a 3.5/5in drop.
Thanks, its lowered 4.5/5in. Im going to drop the rear 2 more inches with drop shackles to level it out. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: lowering question
This is my 79 lowered 4.5 in the front and 6 in the back before I dropped it another 3 inches in the back. As long as you are running your stock leafs in the back you should not need to notch it. In this picture there is still a few inches of travel before the frame would hit. Some good bump stops and you should be OK.

Re: lowering question
That's good if you already cut the rear stops off because they would get in the way. Your local auto parts store should sell some bump stops. Pep Boys has them in the HELP section. You would need to drill a hole in the frame just above the rear end on each side and bolt it in. Or don't run them at all. I didnt have any bump stops on in this picture and I never hit the frame. Just got to slow down for bumps. LOL. This is how it sits now. Had to notch the frame and add bump stops so the rearend doesnt hit the bed. this is with 9 inches in the back and 6.5 in the front.

Re: lowering question
I did 4.5" on mine, 2" springs, 2.5" spindles, stock size tires...they rub the inner fenders when I smash into a dip. It has DJM front springs which i think might have settled and gotten a little softer in 2 years...or I'm just hitting bumps too hard. I flipped the back, and i gots a little rake which I'm not that fond of. If i did it again, i would only do 3.5" total on the front. I might swap the springs one day when I quit making excuses as to why I haven't done it.

Re: lowering question
2.5 drop spindles, 3" springs for front. Flip kit, 2" drop shackles rear with bump stops removed. Axle is about 1.5" from frame. No notch

Re: lowering question
Well I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with my truck but just to throw it out there in case I want to do this, how could I raise the front of my truck to make it sit level instead of lowering the back.

Re: lowering question
Cheaper to lower the back 2" to level it out. Get 2" shackles or hangers.

Re: lowering question
If you want to lower it three inches in the front, just buy a 3 inch drop spindle and be done with it.
