350 trans stock column

I have a 350 trans and a stock shift on the tree steering column for an automatic transmission that is not hooked up. How well will this work if I connect them sense the original trans had one less gear? Will I be able to tell if it is in the right gear?

Re: 350 trans stock column

Original auto trans would have been a 2 speed powerglide. Im a manual trans man myself, but Im sure the auto trans guys will chime in. I know that there are several aftermarket coumns available, but sounds like you want to retain the stock column?

Re: 350 trans stock column

People here in he past said it works fine in the drive position, but I don`t know whether you can grab the L-1 / L-2 position....

Re: 350 trans stock column

It will work fine, you can get all three gears just when you go to 1rst it won't show on the indicator. All other gears display correctly
