Re: project 86
Hopefully you ordered some upper "dodger" arms from MMW, because I think with the Sectioned crossmember they're required. Keep up the progress!

Re: project 86
Lookin' good buddy, I like the sectioned cross member. I saw a thread on those MMW arms they are slick. I am curious to see if it lays all the way out with stock steering shaft. Did you get the "Dodger" upper arms?

That being said, the standard flat c-10 arms should provide the clearance necessary for lowered trucks using raised x-members (those not trying to lay out) & be cheaper/cleaner vs using u-joints.

The MMW arms are nice pieces though. Let me know if you run into a similar issue. Not sure since my app is a C30....

Re: project 86
Some people have asked me how is the truck coming so I figured I would let you guys know what I have been doing. Stopped working on the truck to help a friend. Now that's when it got interesting. I received a 2003 rav4 with the engine and transmission in the trunk. The engine was seized number 4 cylinder was welded to the block and the oil passages was sludge. Ordered parts and took the engine to the machine shop, got every thing back built the engine in the garage then installed in the suv in the drive way on good days

Re: project 86
Now got the head back from the machine shop for the second time tried to hurry and get this thing together and get it out my yard to only make a rookie mistake forget to securely tighten the exhaust cam sprocket jumped time on the second start and bent values 2 to be exact. Time to buy more parts and rebuild the head 10 + hours of labor again

Re: project 86
So keep in mind the truck was given to my friend but the previous owner tried to rebuild and did not know what the hell they was doing so I had to rebuild the engine and reassemble the complete front end and harnesses. So third times a charm rebuilt the head installed run like a champ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVUy...e_gdata_player topped off all the fluids cleaned the vehicle up, time to test drive! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: project 86
Test driving a car neither one of us had ever seen run is a move we both regret. While driving the transmission would drop 1st and harsh shift into 2nd "now f#ck me sideways". I had a clue what it was but hoped this was not the case. This series of rav4 is notorious for the ecm to take a dump and take the transmission with it. There's a TSB for it too. My friend decided to sell the vehicle, made a profit on his end so I learned a great lesson and he got paid
