Super nice restored '63 GMC

This truck fills a large void in the collector car world, 3/4 tons are rarely seen at any car show. It also shatters the myth that longbed stepsides are un attractive, it all depends on how its done, and this one was done right. THis 3/4 ton GMC looks sharp from any angle, great color combo, orginal 17.5" one piece wheels, and plenty of gleaming chrome. This truck can compete with any body style car or truck ever made!http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/COMPL...orcev4exp=true

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

That is a beautiful truck! Thank you for posting this for a few reasons:

My grandpa had a long fleet that was that same color. It was passed down to my uncle, then my dad. It was supposed to be mine some day but I never got it.

I recently bought a 63 long step and I wondered how it would look that color? Now I know

Since I own a long step I feel like I can say this...

That one doesn't look as awkward as most!
After looking at it for a while I think it is the wood bedsides.
The length of them distracts from the fenders being too far back on the bed.

Just my opinion. I wasn't really thinking about building some but after seeing this I just might!

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

Interesting to go with carpet on a stock resto. Was carpet even available as an option?

That's purdy! Was carpet a GMC option? Wasn't there a '66 GMC on here awhile back with original buddy buckets and carpet?

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

Obviously an enormous amount of effort went into that rebuild, and it came out looking like a million bucks (well.. $30,000 anyway). I do however think that some curious choices were made given the scope of the restoration. It seems that it could have been nearly 100% accurate without much more expense. The flat interior paint and carpeting being most notable deviation from stock. Maybe nobody but me cares if it's dead-on true to how it was built, but to get so close and not hit the mark ... well, I dunno, let's just say I'd love to see it with a black deck in the bed, correct interior paint, rubber floor mat, and a blacked out septum (look it up).

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing. Sooo close and could have easily been made right during the restoration, now it would be a major undertaking to correct those details.

True, I would have liked to see this truck restored to 100 Pt also, but sometimes we are fortunate enough to see a truck model like this restored to 95%.

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

A lot of poeple dont really know what "Restored" means, this one is better then new.

Being a 1963 it should have amber turn lamp lens. He also called it a wide side, its a fender side.

There is a lot of little things wrong with if you looking for 100% restored, but those little things made it a nicer looking truck as a Show Truck.

It also list the egine number as the vin number, 305E235561 the true vin it shown in the photos, 1502PG4497B

I noticed that also, along with the '62 logo tailgate, not the new for '63 block letter tailgate. Its very possible its an early '63 built in Aug-Sept of '62 before all the new improvements were incorporated into the line. My intentions were not really to pick it apart on details, but just to give everyone exposure to a rarely done ( but not to 100% factory ) 1500 series truck of this calibur.

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

also along the 62-63 lines.. I noticed the hydraulic clutch... did gmc change to a manual clutch in 63 like chevy?

I agree with some of the comments above, beautiful restoration, IMO they dropped the ball on the interior, ( why would they paint over the door strikers and latches? among other details)..... BUT, I agree you hardly ever see a restored stepside, and if you do it is usually a shorty, so this is neat to see.
thanks for posting it up!

Re: Super nice restored '63 GMC

Very nice truck for sure.
I thought the '63's had the clear lenses with the amber glass insert??
I also think the guage panel is '65 or '66,any '63 i've seen has the ugly little "pod" .
improvement?,yes, correct?,no.
If it were 8-10K we could over look these things...but for 30K we get to pick it apart
