1964 axle swap
The drive train on my rig is a 64 chevy k10 and the front hubs are shot and replacement ones are not available. So im looking for a newer dana 44 to swap in its place. Not only for the disk brakes but also so i can get parts easier.
Is their a later axle that is about the same length (shorter wouldnt be too big of an issue) that would be a direct swap under my truck? The welder i have isnt good enough to weld on new leaf spring perches. so im hoping thier is an axle with the same perch widths and would just be a simple ubolt swap. pictures on my photobucket http://s1045.photobucket.com/user/ma...?sort=3&page=1 |

Re: 1964 axle swap
Hi Jmagee
I have a 1964 K10 Suburban, i replaced my original axles with 3/4 ton stuff. so the original dana 44 is up for grabs. It has 80k mi on it and worked fine, it has the selectro hubs. Reason for swap was to be able to stop the thing, disc brakes and power steering upgrade, lots of work but worth the effort in my book. Let me know if its worth the effort to ship the ting, my Zip is 86040 Page AZ |

Re: 1964 axle swap
The 44 in the front of mine came from a '73. No fitment issues. It's a 3/4 ton which is still a 44. I like it for the bigger disc brakes.
