Guess my bug was contagious (F-I-L's Truck)

Well after getting my 1965 truck a week or so ago my Father In Law has been wanting him one so we could both have something to play with.

He told me to look around and find him a few for sale so he could call them up.

Well after looking a day or so he decided to call a guy in Mississippi. The listing only said 1964 Stepside Chevy, 350, AC.

No pictures or anything listed. I am sure that is why the truck stayed on the market for so long.

The bad is the Tailgate is pretty much toast. The bed and back fenders can prob. be salvaged.

The GOOD;
Truck already has 350 motor, power steering, power disk brakes, 5 lug wheels, AC, new shocks, clean interior, automatic transmission, stock steering column, new exaust etc.

Now here are a few pics from us bringing it home yesterday. Wish mine had most of those things already done.

Now for the good part......PICS.

1964 Chevy C10 Stepside

Finally home

In the shop

Not sure what this is but it was on the inside of the door. Any ideas?

Color is listed as 559AD on the inside plate. Is that the Blue that is mostly on the truck?

Very cool! Nice truck and even nicer your father in law has a common interest enough to seek a matching vehicle. The Dymo tape stickers inside the door are previous owner applied, and indicate the part number(s) for the oil filter and the mileage either at the time they were applied, or when the next oil change was due.

Thanks. Yeah, he has always liked old trucks but when I got mine....the bug jumped on him with both feet also.

Once anything really gets underway I will start taking pictures. Not sure when I will do an actual project thread though.

Most of the truck is blue....however; the interior is Gold and Black so I dont know that it really goes together.

Re: Guess my bug was contagious (F-I-L's Truck)

The truck is at the painter and he said that after sanding over 13 layers of old paint off the bottom paint was a Light Green. I still cant find anything that says what color 559AD is. I now wonder if its a light green.

Anyone find anything on that yet?

looks like the color is gray green poly #43277 kinda hard to see at tcp global. look at page 2 as they are hand written with your 559 code.

Father son stuff... So jealous. Rip dad ya prick. Jk
altho my two boys are growing up so fast it won't be long and I'll have me a crew. My oldest doesn't show as much interest as my 3yr old. Just rambling. Nice trucks! Is that yours I take it, with the cop colors? Pretty cool, was it really active duty at one time or just a scheme?

Yes. Mine is the cop theme. The previous owner had it all Andy Griffith themed. I have a fleetside bed on it now and will eventually loose the cop colors.

My father in laws is at the paint shop now.

Re: Guess my bug was contagious (F-I-L's Truck)

Here is another update. The truck now has some color. We believe the greenish color was the original color. The truck had so many layers of color but that color was on the bottom.

Sorry for the bad quality photos......they really do NO justice for the way the truck looks in person.

Painter said about 2,000 for paint. He had made repairs that my F-I-L would have never worried about. He has exceeded our expectations. He works at a body shop and does a few cars at home on the side now and then. It was absolutely the best deal we were able to find.

Hoping that after he does this one he will still want to do my fleet side for the same.

Should be done this week. We have been having a bit of bad weather here the last few days so not much work was done this weekend.

Re: Guess my bug was contagious (F-I-L's Truck)

Well here are the newest pictures. Should be finished up with all the paint today.

Still need to find some hubcaps. The guy we got the wheel from said they are from around 1973 5 Lug wheels.

I will try to get some better pics of the truck in the day light.
