i read somewhere that langdons will get inthe way of the offenhauser intake i have now ?

Got them from clifford. Cool thing was that I paid the guy a visit while I was in california, so if you have any questions on what he sells( you name it I saw it in my hands) I can give you an answer. He is a nice guy, just dont get scammed by him. |

Here's my '65 C10 with a Six!
Started out with a 292 with Camaro 5 speed. Just swapping over to this GM Six. Twin Cam, 24 Valves, VVT, and Fuel Injected. A little more modern. Expecting 300Hp before mods. |

Its more the top surfaces matching. The surfaces are not the same thickness and the washer gets cocked.

I definately agree with you. My clifford intake has a slightly bigger flange than my clifford headers. You have to out quite a kink in those washer I'll say!

I stumbled upon this engine while combing ebay for chevy 6 cylinder parts. A twin cam 4 valve per cylinder popped up. I thought that's a mistake! It wasn't. for the price of a 292 intake and carb, I purchased the whole 2005 engine off of craigslist. Complete with accessories and wiring. (2006-2009 appear to be the best years.) I've been gathering parts and information for over a year. We just started fabrication a couple of months ago. We've placed the engine and 5 speed trans in the truck to make up the front motor mounts and sized up the trans mount location. And that was the easy part! The oil pan needs to be converted to rear sump. We've had the radiator inlet and outlet swapped side for side. (the water intake is through the thermostat on the drivers side of the block) Since no one makes a header we're going to make our own. There are quite a few transmission options available even though the bell housing pattern is different that the 60's stuff. I've gone with a manual 5 speed from a Colorado pick up. Almost everything you'll want to know is happening on the Vortec 4200 forum, http://vortec4200.com/forum1/index.php A few turbo applications and a few stock engine swaps are in the project section. I've received help and guidance in reprogramming engine control unit and wiring, purchased a flywheel and manifold flanges, learned about converting the oil pan, etc. A few guys are making up parts to sell and help move things forward. Take a look. It's like the V8 guys moving up to the LS series motors. Here's a shot of my truck, one with the 292 and another of the 4.2L. |
