Shocks/dampers

Hi I bought some shockabsorbers front and rear for my 70 c10
fitted them but but am disappointed as the truck wallows around as bad as before.
the shocks are supposed to be heavy duty gas,also if I bounce the back it bounces for two or three times then goes stiffer but the front is very soft.
any ideas guys what I should be fitting,I don't want the front wallowing into bends.

Bilstein 4600 series shocks are the best for our trucks. These will last you for a VERY long time... they don't go bad very often.

Monroe if you want a softer ride. They also don't last very long.
Rancho if you want a stiffer ride. These don't last long either.
Mixed reviews on KYB GR2 and ExcelG. They're a little stiffer than stock, but soften up with use. Some people have success with them not going bad right away, some don't.

After you pick a brand, you'll have to tailor you purchase to whether your truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton, lowered, whether it has HD springs or a sway bar up front.

I've been told a 1/2 ton truck with rear HD springs, front sway bar and at stock height with bilsteins will ride really sweet... not wallowing at all, and maybe slightly firmer than when they came from the factory. It will also corner well and haul a good load.

Yup, I run bilsteins on everything I own. A good set of sway bars will also help out.

has this truck been lowered? if yes and shock relocators not used , you will lose alot of the effective shock rate with them being laid down

While it's most likely shocks, a highly worn suspension could offer up some similar problems. Badly worn springs don't give even the newest shocks a very good base to perform their job correctly. Just some food for thought. Good luck in your search for the culprit!

Thanks,will check the suspension through,the truck is not lowered at the moment but I will be lowering the front so probably will wait until I do that and check everything out then get some decent dampers.
Have a disc brake conversion to do on it as well .

Another good shock is KYB Gas-A-Just. Firmer than stock without being harsh, will soften a bit in time and lasts a long time. Ditto the above advice for a sway bar.
