UCA contacts spindle when chassis on jack stands.

Almost done with my front suspension when I noticed the upper control arm contacts the spindle when suspension is hanging. This keeps the spindle from turning when on jack stands. Is this normal?

Specs:
67 C10
Stock C-arms (w/original alignment shims installed on uppers)
New Moog shafts
New Moog ball joints (73+)
New upper and lower bump stops
New Western Chassis 2.5 drop spindles (73+)
New 1" drop coil from Brothers trucks

See the blue tape at the contact point in the pic. Any thoughts? I don't have anything older to compare it to.

This contact clears as soon as I get the first pump on the jack under the lower control arm. Just thinking if I were to go dukes of hazard jumping I would not be able to turn the wheel in the air. yes I am joking, no plans of jumping it.

My guess is to trim the flange up or grind down the rib on the spindle. I think the earlier arms had wider flanges than later arms.

My guess is the factory upper control arm bumper/stop has been changed or removed.

Re: UCA contacts spindle when chassis on jack stands.

Very common problem with western chassis spindles.. I have always had to trim the upper control arm when using them..

Thanks Kyle, Not the answer I wanted Which spindles do you recommend?

Just thinking a bit, I found one of the original upper bumpers and will put it back in to see if it compresses less than the new ones. If so maybe using energy suspension bumpers would give it just enough clearance. Probably have to trim the upper arm anyway but might be worth a shot.

I think I learned a good lesson for the next project: remove old front suspension, replace with tubular arms maybe replace complete suspension crossmember. The amount of money I have in this stock-ish front end is getting real silly.
