Re: 60-62 rear bag mounting

Ive come to the conclusion there arent any members laying frame with a 60-62. Mines getting close only 1.5" to go. Im building new trailing arms to get the rest.

Re: 60-62 rear bag mounting

The belly will touch before rails. I won't even come close at 8-11 inches to go in the rear. The front might with the PorterBuilt crossmember but not cutting up truck.

Re: 60-62 rear bag mounting

Fixing the belly is easy. Cut off the bottom and plate it up. My belly is less then 1/8" from touching now.

Re: 60-62 rear bag mounting

i have been watching this post for some time now as i was curious as how other 60-62 owners mounted the rear bags. My setup involves bags over axle and decided that i needed a pretty large cup to get some height back. with no cup, i'm pretty sure it will lay frame. with a 3 inch cup (used as a spacer), i would get the frame somewhere between 5 to 7 inches off the ground. not sure how it rides yet as i am still putting pieces together.

this pic its hard to tell how low it will go because the bumper hits a step in the back of my garage (dont mind the mess).

here is an older pic of the rear.

It looks like you have both sides plumbed to a single line.
One thing I read in these forums is don't plumb the two bags to the same line, but have a separate line to each bag.
The reason was if both bags share the same line, and you're going around a corner, air will move from one bag to the other.
The bag with the load will just push air through the line to the other bag and you'll have a terrible lean.

I made that mistake on my 65 for both front and rear bags.. The air will move from side to side.. When I parked that truck, I would level it out by pushing up on the top of the drivers door and it would be level.
