Ignition Bezel Tool

Can any of you provide info/part number of the tool used to install the ignition switch bezel on my '64 GMC with stock ignition switch and stock bezel?

Re: Ignition Bezel Tool

There are three slots along the outermost edge of the bezel and they are approx 1 1/4" - 1 5/16" apart from each other.

I've used 2 carefully ground--not sharpened--ice picks.

Sam: Thanks for the reply. I used an old fork and removed one tine then adjusted the remaining three tines to make a perfect tool for the job. Saved $20 and didn't scratch the new dash paint.

Used an old socket, forget what size and ground it down till I had three points to fit in the slots.

Re: Ignition Bezel Tool

The authentic original GM tool should be shown in the correct year Truck Shop Manual. It is found under Special Tools, Electrical like this one from the 1960 Chevy manual. For this year the correct tool is number “J-7726 Ignition Switch Nut Remover and Installer”.

This is the only year manual I have. Perhaps another forum member can scan the similar page from a later manual and post it up. If the correct part number was known, it might lead to finding one on Ebay or elsewhere.
