Re: Is it possible to install bed with no wood in it
Wouldn't you need spacers? Doesn't the bed sit on the wood with the wood between the bed and the frame, so 3/4" spacers would be needed (I would think).......

Re: Is it possible to install bed with no wood in it
I used some big hex nuts that were about 1/2" for spacers. I also used some rubber strap material as a gasket to prevent noise.

Re: Is it possible to install bed with no wood in it
I seen a trick little set up a couple days ago on a truck in my area. He had these cool looking alluminum rails that were 3/4 inch taller than the stock cross sills, so the bed would sit right.

Re: Is it possible to install bed with no wood in it
Unfortunately, those are all the pics I was able to get aside from the truck itself. It only had a pipe notch, so nothing crazy. He basically said he just replaced all of the original cross beams with the alluminum ones that he made. Very simple, but worked perfect.

Re: Is it possible to install bed with no wood in it
Spacers need to go up at the front corners of the bed, under the inner bedsides, on top of the frame. I have my bed off/wood out now, I can take pics tomorrow if needed (but it is pretty easy to understand if you look at your truck).

Ok thanks, And I guess I should have asked what is it that you used for spacers?

No wood in the bed of my 65. I still have the boards running along the bed sides, which you can somewhat see below.

I had some 0.75" thick aluminum bar stock laying around and cut that up for spacers. You can see a pair next to the forward gas tank tab mounts. I had that cross sill removed to work on the gas tank plumbing.
