Re: First Time Swapper

Anyone know if I can swap a return style rail with a set of return less ones from the later model trucks? That or block off the regulator on the rail. I've already got the fittings and corvette style regulator/filter and Id rather not buy more stuff

Re: First Time Swapper

Dyno tune isn't worth it on a basically stock engine IMO.

Re: First Time Swapper

Here's an easy one. I have the PS pump with a remote reservoir... but I don't have the reservoir... I was thinking of just using an old whiskey bottle. Question is, are the PS lines all high pressure? I don't think a glass bottle with a rubber stopper will hold up to that kind of pressure, but if it's only high pressure into the box then I'll go with it.

If not I'll just grab a new pump with a built in tank

Re: First Time Swapper

Got it up and running late last night! So gratifying! Ran into a few snags but we pushed through. First the starter was grounding out on the trans cooler lines and then we realized we forgot a ground strap from the engine to frame but as soon as we figured those out she started right up and purred like a lion those DT headers are awesome! I'll see if I can get a video up later today.

Huge thanks to everyone here who gave me a helping hand and especially to wasted income and br3w city.

And for those of you keeping score at home my total was closer to 6k, not 3... most of my extra cost came from problems with the year and options on my truck, not necessarily the engine. I think I could have done it for much cheaper, but in my case cheaper meant sacrificing a lot of safety and reliability and I wasn't willing to do that.
