5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
I have a 2000 5.3 ,harness and PCM in my truck that's crammed and tuned. I bought a 2002 ls1 and PCM . I sold my 5.3 with tuned PCM so I want to install the ls1 in my truck but have read mixed info on the pinout differences . I would lie to keep my harness since its custom to my engine bay. What issues besides the injector connectors am I going to run into keeping my vortec harness with ls1 PCM ? Both are red blue connectors.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
You can run the ls1 using the 5.3 harness and computer. Just swap the long block and get a retune.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
As long as your 5.3 harness isn't DBW, then its almost a direct swap for a 2002 LS1, with the exception of the injector plugs like you mentioned. You may have to do some rerouting of the harness since the truck harness goes over the top of the intake which you wouldnt want on an LS1. Also may have to move some wires for sensors that are in slightly different places like the map sensor.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
My truck is dbw so hopefully it will work. My 5.3 has a ls1 intake on it and the harness is already routed off the rear of the intake. If tge hardest part is changing injector ends thats great.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
If you already have an LS1 intake on your 5.3, then the LS1 will have the same intake. What injectors did you have on it? Should have been car injectors in which case you shouldnt need to change the connectors.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
I adapted truck injectors to my ls1 intake but there going with the motor. I plan on soldering on ls1 pigtails on my harness. I read today that the printouts aren't exactly the same and that I will run into 02sensor grounding issues . Mabee I should try to keep ,y truck pcm unless I can get 100% reassurance .

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
Ok I read incorrectly. Yes the pinout is different from the truck ecm to the car ecm. I would keep the truck ecm and just swap the engine. Maybe give the buyer of the 5.3 the ecm from the car? There are a bunch of things different from the 02 sensors, to the dbw tb.

Re: 5.3 to ls1 swap ?s
They are both dbc. I looked at both the pinouts on lt1 swap and I see only 4 pins I need to swap . But. Not sure about the o2 grounding situation between Case ground to pcm grounded sensors if ill run into a problem or not .
