Thanks for all of the nice comments. It is really cool to have you guys get excited about the next steps. Well, since some of you have made updates to your builds today, I guess I should too. Got the jambs all painted and cleared the last couple of weeks. You would think that adding a little two-tone effect in the jambs would just take a few minutes, right? Not the case as it took a lot of time! Next weekend, off comes the body.

Even though I thought the frame would make it back from powder, it did not. I spent the weekend cleaning stuff and getting it ready for re-assembly next weekend. I did have my brothers shop in the Phoenix area www.speedsportsaz.com do the ubndercoating on the body, so that part is now ready.

Got the chassis back from powdercoat and made it a roller over the weekend. Lots of new parts...body back on next weekend.

Thanks guys! It has been a ton of work to get it to this point, but I have been having a lot of fun. It really is coming out nice. I will update again next week when the body gets back on. I took off the "upper" overloads and gave the rear leafs about 3" of additional free arch, but did a flip kit at the same time, so I think that means it will be 2" lower than it used to be. I am afraid that it is going to be too low as the rear end is going to be close to the bottom of the body as well as the axle to the frame. Idon't mind doiing a notch, but have no interest modifying the floor - both of which will hit at about the same time so I likely will not do either. We'll see how close it is once the body gets back on and I start to weight it down. I can make the final adjustment with a re-arch of the leaf springs. More to come...

No reason to be scared. I did not even have to touch the body. Used a lift to take it up, then bolted it right to the rotisserie. Done deal - no issues. Gotta have confidence, and it helps if you have someone that knows what they are doing. That is where my brother's hot rod shop comes in...

As I was doing the bodywork myself over the last 12 months, I kind of thought it would be better if I did the chassis first. However, when I talked to folks, especially the shop that squirted it, they told me it is better to just do the chassis once it is painted. It was a bit more work as I had to line up the doors and all panels again (first time to bodywork them perfect, second time to ensure the 2-tone lines will line up behind the trim, now again to finish the project. The nice part about the way I did it is that I did not have to worry about stepping on, dragging my air hose, overspray, or any of the other thousand things that might mess up the chassis while I was finishing the paint. Provided you have a safe place to keep the body while doing the chassis for a few weeks, I would not change the order.

All of you guys that have said how cool it looks makes me just keep pressing on toward getting it done and road worthy. More progress, but minor. More than anything, I got the body back on the chassis.

The money is getting out of control. I thought I could build one for 10-12 when I bought it since I would be doing most of the work myself. My brother laughed and said it would be 15-18. I thought there is no way I would ever spend that much on an old square body Blazer. Well, fast forward and I blew past his estimate too. As a result, I am going to concentrate on putting parts back on that I have accumulated/cleaned/rebuilt over the last 18 months.

just wait to you get to the part of the build that takes tons of time but doesnt look like you got a lot done, then when your friends come by they look at you and say it took you how long to do what?? LOL but its all worth it when your crusing down the road and the young and old throw a thumbs up.

Valhalla - Space Age auto paint has a product that allows you to tint the material whatever color you want. From there, it is just a matter of spraying it.

I really appreciate the comments guys. My progress is still coming along - considering I am a one man band in my garage at home. I have been putting on some misc parts and doing some sand and buff and it is coming out really nice. I got the doors installed and then just had to take them off and cut the inside jambs (even where the hinges mount) with 2000 paper and then hit them with the wheel too. This is getting out of control, but it is coming out better than I had hoped.
