Re: How can I find out my trucks history

Do you have any of the original paperwork? There was a warranty book that came in the trucks and the original owners/dealers can be found in these sometimes. Other than a DMV state search from where the truck was purchased, probably the only thing I could think of. Problem is DMV (Dept of motor vehicles) doesn't like to give out much info on people.

Re: How can I find out my trucks history

by using your VIN you can find some small history as far as production # and birthplace. that's all i have.

A private investigator is allowed to access vehicle history from the DMV.

Re: How can I find out my trucks history

This should help out a lot! Good luck! This is for manufacture history of parts your truck was built with not the "family" history. Good info anyways.

I don't think the DMV likes to give out info about people, but may release info concerning the truck itself. Different states have different policies with the release of information. My thought would be that it never hurts to ask, but just may not get any info about the truck. Contacting the PO of the truck maybe more forthcoming with the info you want if at all possible..Vernski

Oh sorry I see you are new to the forums now, welcome by the way! a PO is short for Prior Owner, I think that would be your best bet for history on the truck. You can find out where it was built and so on from the ID#'s. Use the search function at the heading of each page on the forum there is stuff listed there. Again welcome to you..Vernski

Re: How can I find out my trucks history

Thanks for the advice. I emailed the DMV and they can't help as the truck is older than 1981. Also the PO was in England so I don't have any leads there. If any ones knows what else I can do please let me know.

Thanks

Re: How can I find out my trucks history

Any chance you found a build sheet under the seat? That may have info if its there. Any reference pictures you have may also help. Its a long shot, but a member may recognize the truck.

Re: How can I find out my trucks history

I went down to my local DMV office today and asked about getting information on past owners. They can not disclose that, but they did give me a request form to send into the state. I will give it a try. I think I was second owner of my Burb the first time and now the fifth!!
