Talking 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Ok so here's the deal guys....
I got this '86 LWB from a really good friend for (FREE) cause it got red tagged sitting in his yard....
Right now it's completely stock... Except the engine... Was originally a 305 carb. engine and is now a 350 4 bolt main from a '75 one ton chassis cab truck....

This was the truck when I got it to my shop....

Now since i got it bout it 3 months ago I've put on a rear fiberglass rollpan (NOT A BIG FAN OF THE FIBERGLASS) and also installed clear carbon fiber taillights...

Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Today I got started on the front drop by tearing the front end apart and pulled the coil springs out so i can cut off 1 full coil to get 2 inches and then will order some 2.5" drop spindles to achieve a 4.5" TOTAL drop in the front...

Front end torn apart here...
Passenger side...

Driver side...

SORRY FOR THE CRAPPY LIGHTING IN MY SHOP....

More pics coming soon....

Thumbs up Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Ya thanx guys....
This is gonna be a LONG drawn out build since I'm doing this on a really tight budget with trying to build this thing and raise a family also so most of my money is going towards the family of course and then I get to do a lil here and a lil there just when I get the chance and funds to do so....
But after I get it dropped like I want then I'm gonna start on the body stuff....
Ill keep y'all updated on the progress as I get to it....

Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Well just got done doing some checking on things and I found out that I need to replace the upper and lower ball joints and also need to replace outer tie rods....
So just as soon as I get all these parts I will be putting them on and also be putting some 2.5" drop spindles on as well....
So in the mean time ill keep y'all posted on the progress....

Angry Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Ok guys I hate to report this but I'm gonna have to put "The Misstress" on the back burner for a lil while....
My daily driver just lost the fuel pump (in tank) I might add, so that just sucked the crap out of the funds.... (Fuel pump, fuel filter, wrecker charge, oil and oil filter change, and labor charges)....
Kinda sux to admit this but my daily is a 2000 Ford F150 Ext. Cab.....

Ya ya ya ya ya ya I know I know..... "It's a damn Ford" but hey it's just a daily driver work truck (My heart is and always will be in Chevrolets)
But anyways $756 later I got my truck out the damn shop....
So ill be back on the Misstress SOOON....

Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Urgh. I tried this on my 86 dually. It rode to stiff, I asked a few questions on here but never got any good advice so I ended up buying 173 dollar half ton springs with a 2in drop.. now my front end sits on the boots.... Guess ill try spacers or swap my springs for regular half ton springs for a not so extreme drop.

Re: 1986 Single Cab LWB Half Ton Build (Satans Misstress)

Only reason I thought it would work is because I have a 460 big block sitting in a half ton looking good. Didn't think there would be that much of a weight issue since its not a diesel.
