upper radiator hose

I have done the search and the threads I have found are older. I am wondering if anyone has found a preformed hose for 350 V8? I am flexible on water outlet as I am swapping intake right now. My intake will take filler tube, which I am considering running.

I think we need a photo or at least a description of where the hose comes out of the radiator. On my 62 the hose comes out of the middle of the top of the radiator. If that is what you have I can tell you what hose I used.

Should be stock. Top hose comes out the driver's side of radiator. From what I understand, 63-66 is different from 60-62.

I used aluminum swivel neck with o-ring. Gives you room to make adjustment for hose.

Thanks for looking. Once you narrow Napa's search down to V8, you are left with a flexible hose. I have seen LMC's, but I am looking to find something by this weekend.

I do have the aluminum swivel neck outlet, which is why I wasn't concerned with which neck.

I drew out what I was looking for, then went to the local parts store and looked through their selection of hoses until I found one with the shape I needed.
The universal flexible hoses suck.

Somewhere I have the part number for a hose from Car Quest, that works with the straight thermostst housing and the '63-'66 V8 radiator. I'll have to look for it......it was posted here some time ago, but I don't remember who posted it.

If you're still looking for a part number I installed a Dayco #70344 on mine. It's a 1963 with a 350 out of a 1972). I trimed about 1 1/2 " off the long side and it clears under the factory '72 air filter assembly without any issues.

I called Car Quest and they only list a flexible hose, but if you come across it, maybe it can be crossed over.

Thanks, Auto Zone shows that in stock. Is that with the angled outlet? Have a pic?

I got lucky and scored an OEM upper pipe with my used V8 radiator. I have the OEM t-stat housing(straight)- just added new rubber hoses to the ends. it clears my serpentine drive very well and looks somewhat original.

So is that why there isn't an upper hose available, because the original was a pipe?

To the best of my knowledge, yes. There was not a molded upper hose on the V-8. Any that I have seen as original have the steel pipe and about 3 1/2" of rubber hose at each end..
Depending on the setup and t=stat housing, alternator location, etc, you may be able to make a later model hose work. the problem is that starting in 1967 the radiator is a crossflow type and therefore wider than the '60-66, so consequently the hose is longer.

I am sure others will chime in on this theory. some guys have had pipes made for their setup, so it can look stock, but be a custom application. Any exhaust shop can make one from 1 1/2" OD pipe. On the t-stat end have it swelled to 1 3/4" OD to make getting hoses easier.

I went this route for my truck (w/ 283). Cost maybe $6. If you're lucky they can make one out of stainless steel.

You're not going to find a listing for one in any parts books, since there wasn't one originally as mentioned above.

Here's the pictures of that hose, I have the shroud off right now and I changed air cleaners but it clears the factory '72 350 air cleaner without a problem.

I ended up using a Gates 20416 that I trimmed a couple inches off the thermostat end, which is the equivalent to the one G-Money is using. The other pain was that I had to stretch the hose onto the radiator, since the inlet is 1.75" for some reason.





I picked up a couple other hoses and the one below, Gates 20868, would probably work well with a center mounted forward pointing thermostat housing with some trimming.




Note: for the bottom I used a Gates 20637, which is the equivalent to the Auto Zone recommendation. Keep in mind my truck has the long water pump.

I finally found the part number I was looking for, for that upper radiator hose. It is Car Quest #20607. I can't take credit for finding that hose, it was member Sillyoldman that found it. You can see a couple installed pics in Sillyoldman's build thread on his '63.

I have a 66 c10 with a 350. I used an upper hose for a 1962 impala with a 327. The motor has an angle thermostat housing with the radiator outlet on the drivers side. For me, it fit like it was ade for it.

I used a NAPA 7575 on mine. My water neck points forward and up but it this hose might work better with a neck that goes a little to the left. Upper radiator fitting is on the left side and straight back.
