I thought about it when my vacuum was lower. Now its better but still considering swapping to a slightly smaller dual booster.

I run a manual disk/drum on my longhorn, also stick shift. The old truck is in the mid of an LS swap, so I cant be of much help on any questions tho... Longhorn

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

Yes I was running a manual Disc/drum setup with my lq4. I was even running that setp with the big D52 Wilwood's in the front.

What do you want to know exactly?
You need to run a prop valve, it doesn't lockup the brakes really well, and it made may knee and thigh hurt....Oh and if you ever try to take it down a dragstrip, you'll bend the steering wheel at the big end the first time you try and stop it from 100+mph

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

I haven't had too many issues stopping my old truck? The complete system came from a 75 C-10 donor....stick shift helps tho (the power brake option is in my right hand) Any time I have had to haul her down quick, I would just shift down a gear or 2 & let the clutch up Normal driving in traffic doesn't seem to be any issue, but I will agree that you will have your hands full, trying to stop that manual brake setup from 100+ mph! Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

Thanks for the info guys. BR3W CITY you answered all of my questions. I really like the cleaner look of not having a booster and I was just curious of how the set up felt. Thanks again

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

I understand the concern in terms of engine cluttering. If you want SUPER clean you can look at the small diameter vacuum "designer" units from Wilwood and the like, but they are spendy.

I've got the hydroboost now, and although its got a ton of clutter, I can lockup the front wilwoods and the rear drums on those steamroller wheels I have, without much issue (though the system does need some fine tuning).

They sell kits to move the booster under the dash.

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

For hydroboost? That sounds like a freakin nightmare. Hot hydraulic fluid being pumped into my cab sounds like something I want to avoid.

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

I'm pretty sure he's just referring to relocating the vacuum brake booster under the dash. As far as I know they don't make a kit that just relocates the booster only, I think you have to move the master cylinder too. Which I don't want inside the cab.

I'm running disc-disc (13"/12") with a CPP MCPV and have no problem stopping.

Re: Any one running manual brakes with an LS swap?

I also have disc/disc with a manual Wilwood M/C. My hydroboost was leaking fluid around the pushrod so I just swapped to manual for the cleaner firewall look. I should have my truck in town in the next few weeks. When I finally get it here, I'll swing by the shop if you'd like to check it out.
