Local Spring Shop, that's all they do!

Had to bring the company Peterbuilt into a small local spring shop for a eyelet bushing change. The 4 guys working there all interact with each job that comes in. They were nice enough to let me take pictures of their equipment and stock.

In stock U-bolts of various diameters and one side of their press for forming leaf springs. Their forge is in another section of the shop with a strut compressor and lathe.

The other side of the press where they form the U-bolts.

Their iron horse, shear for cutting leaf springs to length and trim.

Leafs and more leafs at the ready.

Shackles , perches, bushings, bolts, nuts and pins everywhere. Firestone Air Ride and Timbren Rubber Springs.

Neat old Air Lift poster.

Not a great shot but they had these massive I beams running across the roof to support the wooden roof deck, but the trucks got taller, so they notched the I beams and welded in a new web that's looks like an inch thick.

Thanks for sharing. It's neat to see the machines they use. There are two spring shops that I use locally but I have never had a chance to see what's out back. I'm curious about all the variables they can manipulate when building leaf springs. Seems like you could come up with all sorts of rate curves.
