Brake Booster..... ?

Where do you tap vacuum from a 5.3 to a stock 78 pick up brake booster?

Re: Brake Booster..... ?

The 5,3 is a 2004.
There is a port that goes into the valve cover (maybe T the PCV?)

Re: Brake Booster..... ?

At the back of the intake there is a round port . If you look at the back above where your oil press sender you should see it. Gm sells a barb that fits in there. Ill have to wait till i get home to get the pt # but i got mine at scoggin dicky in lubbock for about 8 or 10 bucks.

definatly wont hook to valve cover lol! But i guess if you had an intake with the purge valve behind the tb you could remove that and tap that hole. But if yours has the port in back id use it caus the barb is made for it.

Re: Brake Booster..... ?

Yes, The nipple replaces the plug. There's a red plastic piece that you pushin on while pulling out the plug. As for the A/C, there is a fitting on the right side of the intake that you can break a little tab off of and hook the HVAC hose to it. Post #204 of the build thread of my rusty '71 in my sig has pics if you're not sure what I'm talking about.

Thanks, that helps (#204), I would never thought of breaking something to find a port!
The red push pull plug?
What part is removed?
I will try and push & pull !!

Re: Brake Booster..... ?

When you pull on the plug the red part will try to come with it and not allow the plug to come out, take a small screwdriver and push the red part back in while still pulling the plug. Its really easy once you try it.

Re: Brake Booster..... ?

There is another plug on some of the hydroboost trucks, but it still looks like a plastic vacuum plug. (just not red iirc). I couldn't find the number but I sent TruckDude off looking for it.

When I run out of things to do I am going back and read your build, I guess I should have already read it, because of all the questions you could have answered. Nice work
