Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Small Update: Got the shock relocation brackets mounted and the shocks put on. I can't get over how well all of Porterbuilt's parts fit, installing everything so far has been great. Definitely worth every penny!
Rear axle is still at the shop getting shortened. Should be back in the next week or so.

Looks good. What kind of spindles do you have? Did you have to drill them out like the instructions say to for the rack and pinion?

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I like the MMW arms. I had some on a bodied S10 blazer and they were very nice and heavy duty. Something different. Definately some heavy SOB's though

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Yea, the MMW arms go really well with the design of the new PB front crossmember, but you're right, they sure are heavy! I'm running CPP drop spindles, and I have yet to drill them out. I will have to though like the instructions say to.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
So I have some good and bad news, I'll start with the bad. I bought a set of jeep rims and tires really cheap yesterday, went to mount them and they don't fit. They hit the control arms because of offset issues. So I'm going to have to sell them.
Now for the good news! My rear axle was finished yesterday and was $200 cheaper than I was quoted. Score! But I'm headed off on a much needed vacation for a week so there won't be any progress for a bit. I hope to have some updates by the end of the month though! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Thanks! It was great meeting you as well! So cool to run into members on here in random places everywhere. It was great to check out your truck in person! I'm back from vacation and should be making some headway this coming weekend.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
No worries! I should be able to sell them pretty quick and I may even be able to make a little $$. I think I came up with a solution to my problems, and should have some pics of it after this coming weekend.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Well, this isn't quite truck related, but it will effect my truck funds. My wife's new car finally showed up this week, and we went and picked it up today. Man, is it nice! It's the new 2014 Mercedes CLA 250, we pre-ordered it back in May and they started showing up here in the US this week so we're one of the first people in the area to get one…which is pretty cool to know. It's quite an upgrade for us, so we're pretty happy with it!
So unfortunately I wasn't able to work on the truck much today, just started to prep a little bit for the rear suspension. I will hopefully be able to work on it tomorrow and make a little progress.

Are you using the brake kit from CPP? If so how do like it?

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I am! I got the big brake kit with 13" front rotors and 12" rear rotors. They look great and are way bigger than the rotors I had previously! I can't testify for how well they work, haven't gotten there yet, but from what I've heard they work great!

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Good grief to simply state a car that expensive will affect your truck fund is an understatement, then again if she says a single word about how much money you are spending on your truck you can just mention the Mercedes hahaha!

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
haha right! I think it happened the other way around though, since I was spending so much on the truck she guilt tripped me into getting her a Mercedes hahaha

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
So another small update. Still stalled on getting the rear suspension mocked up. I've got to get the rear axle put back together before I can move forward on the rear suspension. Anyway, the small update is that I built my temporary tires to roll my frame around on. I think they turned out pretty nice and should do the trick for now to help mock everything up. Thoughts?

Nice wheels I saw that on musclecar on Spike. It definitely works until you get the rollers you want.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I'm thinking some chrome spray paint will set those wheels off nicely.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
haha thanks! I actually got the idea from Musclecar! After the jeep rims didn't work out this was the next best thing. These will just be for rolling it around the garage so that my nice rims don't get scratched up.
