parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
I picked up another truck for parts to use on my 77 High Sierra build. I'm using the diffs-everything else can go.....has a 406 with about 60K on it, nice emblems and such....let me know who wants a price for what.....I'll post pics this afternoon. Whatever I don't pull off goes to scrapyard this Friday.....don't need a 5th truck sittin around....lol

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
Gettin er done today...almost have the front end stripped. I set aside the parts that are worth saving-till have some trim to remove but overall the truck isn't salvageable and I usually don't say that very often...lol.
Here's some parts worth saving...if anybody sees something they need, shoot me an offer-I don't like throwing away good builder parts but I am not storing any more 73-80 stuff... This is a cool part....it appears to be a dealer installed engine oil cooler...idk-it has correct mounting brackets and matching radiator support bolts to secure it as well as a factory brace supporting the hydraulic hoses as they protrude through the lower radiator crossmember...I don't see many of these and this one doesn't leak....anybody have a use for it? Pretty good emblems-a few small pits but both sides have nice ones... |

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
I am going to be using the front and rear diffs off this truck and here's the weird part-the only relatively rust free part on this truck is the radiator support and oddly enough I do need that as well for my 77 High Sierra project....funny how things work out...

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
I would say they're in good shape-there's only some tiny pit spots inside the headlight opening but chrome is nice-no rot, very good builder headlight bezels imo. The lower balance stainless trim is nice also-the upper trim is nice also. I saved whatever is nice to use-I wouldn't say they're show quality, but clean builder quality.

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
I would be interested in the fender emblems, depending on price, and could probably even pick them up tonight as I have to come down to Altoona after work anyways.

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
Behind the filler panel there should be a piece that has 2 bolts going to the fenders and 2 to the core support and 2 to the filler itself. That truck have a good pair? Someone ecided to take out my front end

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
Yes, it has both low and high note horns and I tested them-they both work perfect...no rattles and no rusty scale inside-really good OEM horns. I'd ike to sell the pair....how's $25 shipped for them sound?

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
The shroud opening measures 21.5" in diameter. Lol....you know, I have a friend at work who had his fan on his Grand Cherokee go bad so I upgraded his with an RF24 Motorcraft fan which is a 2-speed design. I hadn't seen an electric fan inside a shroud until I seen that.....crazy Chrysler.

Re: parting out 1979 K20 Silverado
That's awesome how well that fan fits. Obviously tho it appears the 67-72 guys have fitment issues that we 73-87 guys don't. I use a Crown Vic 2-speed fan on my 86 and it was tight but clears everything. I also swapped to a serp. setup.
