best street/strip 12 bolt diff

Hey everybody! I'm thinking about finally ditching the open differential in my truck. I was just curious if anybody had any suggestions for a differential for a street/strip truck. I've been looking at the Detroit TrueTrac, but wasn't sure how well they "lock up" during a launch. Also been looking at Detroit Lockers and Auburn Limited Slips as well. I have the factory truck 12 bolt, TH400, 355sbc with guesstimated 425hp at the flywheel and I'll be going to either a 4.11 or 3.73 rear gear. Thanks in advance.

There are a few other questions that need to be answered. First up is how often do you drive this truck? Is it a DD or weekend ride? Do you plan to add more power to it? Street tires or something like the ET Streets? If its anything other than street tires I suggest having Ford ends put on and stronger axles added then the Truetrac or Locker.

If its your DD and no more power than what you have with street tires I love my Auburn Pro Series, it hasn't let me down yet.

Re: best street/strip 12 bolt diff

Thanks everybody for the replies. As of right now, its a weekend driver and occasionally drive it 1-2 times during the week. For now I'm going to "try" and leave her alone since I'm in college now, but after I get out I do plan on adding more power. Right now it has 275/60R15 street tires on the back. I was told when it had 4.11s in it previously it would dead hook at the track, but not at all on the street.

Re: best street/strip 12 bolt diff

My Auburn Pro Series went south, so I replaced it with a Yukon Trac-Lock race posi. It works very well with no chatter whatsoever! I have a 9" with a Strange nodular center section. I had to do a considerable amount of clearancing in my carrier though. It was a much larger posi. Very nice unit though! .02
