New Task Force Owner
Hey guys,
I just bought a 1956 3600. Truck is coming from IA and has no engine/trans. I am building a 383 stroker for it and will be doing a 4x4 conversion. I will post pics when the truck gets here sometime next week. |

Re: New Task Force Owner
Congrats and welcome!
There are a great bunch of guys here. I haven't found a jerk among them....yet! (Oh oh, that means it's ME!! lol) So what are your plans for this truck? And yes, its traditional here to show us your truck and introduce yourself to us. Explain who you are, what you do, your level of automotive experience, etc. It's all good. We draw expertise from accomplished guys and we offer advice (even when you don't want it!) to lesser experienced guys. Best, Dan

Re: New Task Force Owner
I'm 22 years old. This is MY first project, although I am currently finishing helping my father with his 71 Vette. I have been working on anything with a motor for as long as I can remember and I am currently finishing my associate's program with New England Tech in Automotive Technology. I have come to learn that while experience is great, knowing the theories behind why and how things work really help you with the precision and effectiveness of automotive service and repairs.
I currently work for a real estate appraisal company, but I will be switching into the automotive field once I graduate in the spring. I have been lurking around this site since I decided to buy a TF a few months ago and now that I own one I cant wait to start working on it. |

Re: New Task Force Owner
Shipping company is having a hard time finding a driver to go from IA to RI. This is turning into a pain.

Thanks but I'm not looking for NAPCO... I will be using a front and rear from a 70s K20.

Cool ! Looks about the same condition as the 56 3200 series I started with. Keep us posted with periodic updates.

Re: New Task Force Owner
Thanks... I am going to start the tear down this weekend. I think I am going to start a build thread. I haven't seen many if any at all 3600 series builds, especially a 4WD conversion.

Re: New Task Force Owner
There is a kit available to adapt a 55-59 truck onto a 73-87 chassis that is sold by EZ Chassis Swaps. It comes with all new fabricated cab mounts, rad and box mounts along with a bunch of other things. Might be worth checking out. I think it would be much easier to do a 4x4 than a 2wd conversion
