4L60E to factory column shift?

Anything special required to mate the factory column shift to the 4L60e? Drive train gets dropped in tomorrow!

Thanks!

If you need more room for exhaust, Lokar sells a kit. OBTW, what squadron are you attached to?

Re: 4L60E to factory column shift?

I have a few questions regarding the use of stock column shifter. How does the 3 speed shift gate in the column play with the 4 position gear selector in the trans? Are you guys able to pull shifter down to lowest position? Does neutral line up correctly?

4x4

I can get all gears on the 4l60 with the stock shifter. As far as lining up with the pointer, i dont have a pointer on my column yet, so i dont know if it lines up but it does get every gear

Too funny, I was in HT18 at the time, but was Wing HT Stan Officer. I've known Joe for a long time. Matter of fact, we both currentley work at the TW5 wing building. Small world, . I used to drive my 48 everyday, maybe you remember it.

Re: 4L60E to factory column shift?

The only problem I had was mentioned above and when I redid my exhaust I didnt get it low enough to start with and my linkage interfered with the pipes. I could not go into low. That is really not necessary since the computer does what it wants to anyway lol. I did fix it but thought about using the Lokar cable it looked much cleaner. There seems to be enough "slop" in the shifter I was never sure by looking at the pointer what gear I was in. I normally just left it in OD and went for it.

The gate isn't in the column (except for park), it's done throught the tranny. You can play with the adjustment for the different positions, mines not perfect, but it's close. No problem on mine going into all gears.

Re: 4L60E to factory column shift?

I had seen a few years ago a 4 speed plate for the column. So it had the OD spot as well as the others. I recently looked and coldnt find it I am not sure if it went into production.
But Yes neutral lines up so you can start your truck in neutral and park as well as having reverse lights. again sometimes they are a little sloppy but always worked.

Re: 4L60E to factory column shift?

Thanks Rob, those are pretty cool. I am now running a T56 so I don't need them but maybe somebody else can use these.
My truck has tilt so I know those are different and not sure if those are a direct swap or not.
anyway thanks for the link.
