Transmission died

Not sure what happened but truck won't go into gear and dumped all the tranny fluid. Funny enough, it died in a NAPA parking lot 1/2 a mile from my mechanics shop. Had to have it towed to their shop. Not sure what the deal is. Hoping nothing too serious. Drove the truck about 20 miles on Saturday and was pulling into the NAPA for a part (non-transmision related). It just kind of died and would not engage in any gear. Looked underneath the truck and was spilling fluid right at the transmission support bar. Hoping nothing too serious. I'll find out tomorrow. Not going to sleep well tonight thinking about it. Ugh...old trucks

Re: Transmission died

Transmission needed to be replaced. At the shop now. They said the internals were bad and were causing the fluid to be pushed out. They filled it up and ran it about a block before it started leaking again. It would not shift into any gears for them either. Pulled the trigger and had it replaced with a rebuilt TH350. Hope to get it tomorrow. Sorry kids, no presents this year...daddy bought a new transmission

Re: Transmission died

How did they drive it a block if it wouldn't shift into gear?

Once filled it would go into gear but as they ran it and the fluid ran out it would not shift or go into any other gears. It limped back to the shop. This is a shop I trust and have had work done at in the past. I trust them and they treat me right.
